Gone, but never forgotten…

June 16, 2010

Jericho’s sire left us yesterday after a fast decline that ultimately was diagnosed as cancer. I will always see Piedmont in Rico’s eyes – a kind gentle look that was so representative of the horse he was.  Piedmont was the catalyst for me finding Jericho and having the time of my life with him – and he is what brought together so many wonderful people.

Piedmont and Jericho - Pappa and Son

This was taken at Sport Horse Nationals, two years before I bought Jericho… It was featured on the AHA web site because it was really funny that a FATHER and Son had both gone TOP TEN in the Geldings Sport Horse in Hand class.

you can see they don’t resemble each other very much – except for their sweet expressions….

We lost a treasure yesterday. But every show entry, every show program, where Piedmont is listed as Rico’s sire – we’ll remember and do our best to honor the legacy he left.

  1. It seems to me it’s been a tough year on horses. Lots of special horses have been lost this year. I’m sorry to hear of this loss for you.
